Export or Delete Your Data

FitKeep is built to keep a private, long-term record of your training — and that means your data stays yours. You can download your FIT files at any time, or remove your account entirely.

Download your data

You can export every FIT file you’ve uploaded or synced, plus your account data, as a single ZIP archive:

  1. Open Settings → Data
  2. Select Download ZIP under “Export your data”
  3. Save the archive. It contains your original FIT files and account.json, a personal backup you can upload to FitKeep again

Because FitKeep stores your original files, the export contains the files exactly as your device recorded them, not re-encoded versions.

The ZIP also holds an account.json file with:

  • Your profile and settings
  • Your goals
  • Your AI Coach conversations, decrypted (the messages only)
  • Your activities, each with its name, type and file reference, including activities that have no FIT file

Best efforts are not in the export. They are worked out from your activity files, so FitKeep can calculate them again.

Some Garmin activities have no FIT file. If Garmin sent us recorded samples for one, the garmin-details folder in the ZIP holds them as a JSON file, and the activity in account.json names its file. A summary-only activity keeps its summary in account.json, since nothing else holds its data.

Activities that share a filename get their activity ID added to the name in the ZIP, so none overwrites another. account.json names each activity’s FIT file.

If something could not be added, an ERRORS.txt file in the ZIP lists it.

The export does not include your Training Plans or Activity Reviews.

The files in the ZIP are not encrypted once you have downloaded them, so keep the archive somewhere safe.

Import your data again

The ZIP and its account.json can go back into FitKeep, for example after you start a new account or want to restore your activity names:

  1. Open Upload and add the ZIP, or just the account.json
  2. FIT files in the ZIP are uploaded as usual, and files you already have are skipped
  3. A card above the upload area shows what the account.json would change. Choose what to apply and select Apply, or Cancel to throw it away

You can apply three things:

  • Activity edits: the names and types you gave your activities. The card shows how many apply now and how many wait for their file to be processed. An edit that waits is applied once its file has been processed, and is dropped after 30 days if the file never arrives. Activities that already match are left out
  • Profile: your profile and settings, field by field. The card shows each current value and the new one. Changed fields are selected for you, except the two email settings and any field the import would empty, which you have to select yourself
  • Goals: goals you don’t have yet. Goals that are already there are skipped

A very large export can be too big for one upload: a ZIP can be up to 100 MB and hold up to 3,000 FIT files. If yours is over that, unpack it, upload account.json on its own and the FIT files in smaller ZIPs. The activity edits wait for the files, so the order does not matter.

Your AI Coach conversations are not imported. The import never changes your email, sign-in or anything that isn’t your own training data.

Encryption at rest

Your original FIT files are encrypted at rest on FitKeep’s servers using AES-256-GCM, and so are your AI Coach conversations. Derived data, such as the metrics and best efforts calculated from your activities, is stored in our database. See the Privacy Policy for full details on how your data is handled.

Delete your account

If you want to leave FitKeep, you can permanently delete your account from Settings → Data: select Delete My Account under Danger Zone. Deleting your account removes:

  • All your uploaded FIT files
  • All your activity data and best efforts
  • Your account profile and settings
  • All other data associated with your account

It also disconnects your integrations: Garmin stops sending us your activities, and our access to your Google Drive is revoked. Any AI assistants you connected over MCP lose access along with your account.

This action cannot be undone and your data cannot be recovered, so download your FIT files first if you want to keep a copy. You’ll be asked to confirm before anything is deleted.

Find and remove duplicates

If you’ve imported activities from more than one source — for example, a Garmin sync and a manual bulk export — you may end up with two copies of the same workout. Open Settings → Data and select Review duplicates to see any groups of activities that started at the same time. FitKeep shows you the metric differences between copies so you can decide which one to keep and delete the other. See Find and Remove Duplicate Activities.

Reprocess your activities

Settings → Data also has a Reprocess All Files button. This re-runs FitKeep’s parsing and analysis on every activity you’ve uploaded. Use it if you notice that older activities are missing data that newer ones have, for example after an update to how FitKeep calculates best efforts or elevation. Reprocessing runs in the background on our servers, so you can close the page while it works.

To retry a single activity that failed to process, open it and select Try again instead.
